Description
Aveiro, Portugal. My beautiful second city - where I currently study, and live. Aveiro is often called the portuguese Venice, due its canals crossing the city. It's truly a remarkable place to live, a small quiet town with pretty much everything you need, and still with a lot of old traditions.
About the photo, this was taken back in 2006, and it's the result of 3 shots - HDR. I will spare the rest of the details since I just heard my cat breaking another jar.

The colors on the buildings is really awesome.
Only minor crit would be those cables sticking up in the air. They distract the otherwise perfect site!
Keep sharing.

First of all, I won't digitally remove the cables - I am highly against this kind of modifications to photography. Clone tool and similars are tools I don't accept when it comes to photography.
I had no way of not shooting the cables - actually, what you see is a bridge for people to walk on over the river, there's a monstruous structure where the cables come from which are holding the bridge. I wanted to capture it because, well, it's beautiful

Sometimes you need to heal for example a dirt spot on a picture. That is healing too. Is that against your believes concerning digital photography or is that to be considered accepted?
I believe that minor corrections can be what it takes to bring a great composition to even next level. Of course plan your shot as much as you can to avoid major corrections due to lack of plan and execution..
Post editing in general is okay or not?

Well done.

When someone retouches a lot a of a picture (say for example, clone someone out of the picture!) it totally loses it photographic value to me, and it starts being photo manipulation. Dust and scratches from old photos are obviously ok, since they weren't part of the original composition, but since a photograph is a capture of what was ACTUALLY there, it's almost a crime to remove it!
I'm more than ok with contrasts and color enhacement, for example. But when I shoot with my analogic camera and scan those works, I never touch them in Photoshop. It just doesn't feel right, for those.
I've been in a lot of discussions about this with photographers, artists, etc, and obviously the opinions are split. But this is truly what I believe in. I got nothing against people who highly retouch a photo, since they assume they're more a photo-manipulation than the simple photo itself.
